A Walser village at the bottom of Monte Rosa
Have you ever been to Macugnaga? It’s an alpine village on the foot of Monte Rosa, on the Piedmont side of the Mount.
Macugnaga was inhabited since the XIII century by the Walser population, mountain people of Swiss origin that managed to conquer these areas and handed down culture and customs from one generation to the others. Even today you can admire the testimonies of this people in the houses built in wood with characteristic balconies and stone roofs.
What to do in Macugnaga?
There are many paths for trekking in the nature, from the easy hiking in Quarazza Valley to the “Fairy Lake” to more challenging trekkings in the mountains. You will also find many MTB and E-bike tracks!
